60-Plus Group

(A.K.A. Young-at-Heart)

Current session ends on December 11. Resumes January 15, 2009.

The RBC 60-Plus Group is the outreach arm of Rosemount Bible Church ministries specifically directed towards meeting the needs and expectations of the senior members of our community.

Group LunchIt is not limited to attendees of our church services and all seniors are welcome.

We meet at the church each Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. throughout the fall, winter and spring months.

The first hour is spent singing the good old fashioned hymns and listening to a devotional message presented by one of the men of our congregation. At noon, a hearty meal of homemade soup, fresh baked bread, and dessert is served. Afterwards, we enjoy a social time playing table games of Uno, Scrabble, Rummy-O, etc.

On one Thursday of each month, a party is held for those who celebrate birthdays during that month. On these occasions the menu includes casseroles and salads, with cake and ice cream for dessert.

Group outings are an enjoyable feature of our activities.

Throughout the pre-Christmas season, we enthusiastically collect items such as small toys, hygiene kits, and school supplies, suitable to fill shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child (Samaritans Purse) and contribute to the distribution by that Organization to needy children in various countries around the world.

Games-Guess that BabyIn December, a full turkey dinner is served, and the church hall is made festive with a Christmas tree, seasonal decorations and a gift exchange.
Each attendee also goes home with a delicious quick bread that is generously baked by the ladies of RBC.

Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, and Easter are other occasions that are marked with theme decorations and special menus.

We currently sponsor, through World Vision, a little girl who lives in the Philippines and is in much need of support.

Gift ExchangeThe 60-Plus ministry is made possible by the dedication of those who cook and serve meals as well as those who pick-up and drive people who need transportation each week in order to be able to attend.

It is our objective to further strengthen and enlarge this outreach as it meets a growing need, particularly for those who really look forward every week to the ministry, fellowship, caring, and companionship which we all experience together in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Come and see what we are all about. Get involved – be a blessing to others and get a blessing yourself!

George DixonGeorge Dixon

The late George was an elder of Rosemount Bible Church (called Ebenezer at the time).

He has had a significant impact on shaping our church and has deeply impacted the people who attend.

On October 22nd, 2004, George Dixon turned 100 years old!  At Young-at-Heart we celebrated with George on this special occasion. George even sang Happy Birthday to himself, along with the rest of us, and maintained his usual sense of humour throughout the party!

George passed away in early 2005. We know he is now in the presence of his Lord.
